The exhibition of an artist from Yamal Leonid Lar was organized in the Tyumen regional parliament (Duma). It is dedicated to the 89th anniversary of foundation of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The head of the regional Duma Sergey Korepanov opened the exhibition. According to him, he is opening it with special pleasure, because he has been familiar with the artist for long time, appreciates his creative work and respects him as a scientist and a teacher. According to Sergey Korepanov, the artist has repeatedly participated in town, regional, zonal, all-Russian, all-Union and international exhibitions.

“Leonid Alekseevich (Lar) knows well everyday life, customs and rituals of indigenous peoples of the North. The artist made a great contribution to education of pedagogical personnel, he taught in the regional school of arts and culture in Salekhard and during more than twenty years in Tobolsk pedagogical Institute as the dean of the art and graphics faculty. I am sure that this exhibition will be interesting not only to deputies and employees of the regional Duma, but also to numerous participants of sittings, conferences, forums, which take place in the regional parliament, and also to youth, who comes here on excursions”, the speaker of the regional Duma told.

Leonid Lar notes that his creative work is directly related to mythology and culture of peoples of the Tyumen North. And coincidentally, the opening of his exhibition in the Tyumen regional parliament fell on the 10th of December - the day of foundation of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The artist thanked Sergey Korepanov for the opportunity to demonstrate his creative work in the walls of the Tyumen regional parliament.

Representatives of the Public youth chamber at the Tyumen regional parliament, who implement the project “Yamal is for everyone!” came to support Leonid Lar. The project team includes students from among indigenous peoples of the North. According to the participant of the project Tatyana Maksimenko, its main purpose is to popularize ethnic traditions of Nenets and Khanty peoples residing on the territory of the big Tyumen region since ancient times.

After the official opening of the exhibition Leonid Lar, being based on subjects of his paintings, gave a short lecture on mythology and culture of northern peoples.
