Foreign scientists will arrive to Salekhard to observe the polar lights

The international scientific and practical conference "Polar geophysics of Yamal" will take place in Salekhard on the 13th of April. More than 50 scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Denmark, Hungary, the USA and Taiwan will gather on it.

Specialists of the scientific center for exploration of the Arctic and the regional technological park will represent Yamal on the conference. Besides, representatives of fuel and energy companies will arrive – Gazprom, VNIIGAZ, "Yamal LNG", "Gazprom dobycha Yamburg", "Gazprom dobycha Urengoy", "Gazprom dobycha Noyabrsk" and "Gazprom dobycha Nadym". As it is informed on the official website of the department of international and external economic relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the participants of the forum will discuss applied aspects in researches of physics of polar sub-storms and polar lights, databases on geophysical grounds and observatories, methods of electro-magnetic sounding in high latitudes and influence of cosmic weather on technological systems. It is being expected that the results of these researches will be useful in health protection and oil-gas extraction. The program of the forum foresees master-classes on study of geophysical devices and observation of polar lights. The public scientific and educational lecture about cosmic weather is planned for the participants of the conference, schoolchildren and pedagogues. The Institute of Earth magnetism, ionosphere and radiowaves propagation named after Nikolay Pushkov of the Russian Academy of Sciences or IZMIRAN will publish the collection of articles by the results of the conference.
