In summer whitefish juveniles will be released into rivers

In the upcoming season enterprises of “Gazprom Neft” operating on the Yamal Peninsula plan to release about 13 million juveniles of valuable commercial fish into rivers of the Ob-Irtysh basin.

Within the videoconference representatives of “Gazpromneft-Yamal”, “Gazpromneft-Razvitie”, Sobsky fish-farming plant and the regional department of agro-industrial complex discussed the progress of the preparatory work, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.

According to the representatives of Sobsky fish-farming plant, growing of muksun and broad whitefish juveniles takes place according to the plan and in compliance with all technological parameters. In particular, broad whitefish larvae are already going to active external nutrition - the food is similar to what they would consume in natural conditions. Muksun fish eggs are kept in incubation devices under careful supervision, and soon the fish fry will be born.

According to the representatives of the regional department of agro-industrial complex, the situation in the branch is stable, it is planned to fulfill stocking of fish in the usual mode with consideration of weather conditions.

The total number of muksun and broad whitefish juveniles for the release into rivers of the Ob-Irtysh basin for 2019-2020 under the request of two Yamal enterprises of “Gazprom Neft” is more than 25 million.

According to Anatoly Sukhodolov, the director for production safety at “Gazpromneft-Yamal”, replenishment of aquatic bio-resources is an important part of ecological obligations of the enterprises in the region. “This is a real step towards restoration of whitefish population in Yamal. We have been working in this direction for long time, and we have the well-established system of interaction with fish farmers. We work with Sobsky fish-farming plant that proved its worth as a reliable partner in recent years”.

Maksim Grodz, the deputy executive director of the major project “Yamal Gas” for production safety, “Gazpromneft-Razvitie”, said: “Responsible attitude to natural environment is a strategic priority of “Gazprom Neft”. To maintain the ecological balance in the region, the company not only uses nature-saving technologies in construction of infrastructural facilities, but also implements a number of additional measures, including preservation of ichthyofauna”.

The head of the office for organizing and regulating of fishery under the department of agro-industrial complex of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Sergey Gulyalov said: “This year in cooperation with oil and gas companies we have decided to focus on two fish species the most valuable for fishery complex of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug – muksun and broad whitefish. The production capacity of Sobsky fish-farming plant will allow releasing 34 million fish juveniles into rivers of Yamal during the season”.

Dmitry Kolesnikov, the director of Sobsky fish-farming plant, said: “We continue working in the usual mode, and we are confident that we will fulfill our obligations. It is supposed that the release of fish juveniles into natural water reservoirs will be started, as in previous years, in June”.

It should be noted that the program on reproduction of aquatic bio-resources is an important part of projects on development of extractive fields. Subsidiaries of “Gazprom Neft” together with their partners are busy with farming and reproducing of rare fish species in basins of northern rivers and seas. In 2019 the company’s enterprises released more than 71 million juveniles of valuable commercial fish species into natural water reservoirs.
