India is interested in deliveries of LNG from the plant of NOVATEK on the Gydan peninsula

Indian companies are interested in arranging of deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the plant of NOVATEK, which is being planned on the Gydan peninsula in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

This information is given in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The sides admitted the significance of organizing of deliveries of liquefied natural gas from Russia to India. The sides with satisfaction marked developing cooperation between the group of "Gazprom" and its Indian partners in trade of LNG. The Russian side welcomes interest and joining of Indian partners into cooperation on fulfillment of joint projects that suppose organizing of deliveries of LNG with use of capacities of the plant "Arctic LNG-2", which is being created by the company "NOVATEK" on the basis of extractive fields situated on the Gydan peninsula and partially in the Gulf of Ob, as it is said in the statement. Last October the government of the Russian Federation gave the right of LNG export to three structures included into the group of NOVATEK – "Arctic LNG 1, 2 and 3". These companies own licenses for areas on the Gydan peninsula and in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: Geofizicheskoye and Salmanovskoye (Utrenneye) fields and also the North-Ob licensed area, as RIA "Novosti" informs. As the head of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson notes, it is planned to define terms of building of the LNG-plant on the Gydan peninsula in 2016. Now NOVATEK fulfills the project on building of the LNG-plant with the capacity 16 million and 500 thousand tons per year on resource base of the South-Tambey field in Yamal. It is planned to start up the first stage of the plant "Yamal LNG" in 2017. In total it is planned to build three stages.
