It is planned to fulfill one hundred and fifty priority projects in the Arctic till 2030
The sanctions policy allowed opening new opportunities for cooperation with Asian partners in the Arctic; first of all, in economic sphere and joint creation of large energy and transport infrastructural projects on the basis of development of oil and gas fields.
The chairman of the State Commission on Arctic Development, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitriy Rogozin told about it on the conference “International Cooperation in the Arctic: New Challenges and Vectors of Development”. He notes that none of almost 80 cooperation projects was cancelled during the latest 2.5 years within activity of the Arctic Council. The chairman of the commission presented the examples – fulfillment of the project “Yamal LNG” with participation of China, development of Vankorskoye oil field with participation of Indian colleagues. “We actively cooperate with Korean and Japanese partners in building of ships and marine equipment for development of arctic extractive fields”. He also mentions about active interaction with neighbors in Asia on creation of the unique giant shipyard “Zvezda” in the town Bolshoi Kamen in Primorsky Krai. Also cooperation is conducted with Chinese and South Korean partners, as he says. Dmitriy Rogozin informs that the portfolio of projects, which are being fulfilled or planned for the coming time, was prepared, according to the instruction of the state commission. 150 priority projects with terms of fulfillment till 2030 with the total cost almost 5 trillion rubles were selected. At that, the bigger part of these funds – about 4 trillion – are on the account of off-budgetary sources, as he declares. Among the projects there are: the platform “Prirazlomnaya”, “Yamal LNG”, building of the sea port of Sabetta, the Northern Latitudinal Railway, Murmansk transport hub. Besides, it is planned to build nuclear-powered icebreakers, including ones of new generation, to create equipment and technologies for work in the Arctic, as it is informed on the website rareearth.ru. “We see the Arctic as the area for testing of new domestic innovative technologies. The state can be their customer”, as Dmitriy Rogozin explains. According to his words, these are projects on elaboration of new materials and fuel suitable for use in conditions of extremely low temperatures, projects of creation of arctic transport machinery – light aviation and helicopters. Helicopters of longer range able to work in such aggressive environment as climate of arctic latitudes are being created now. Light aviation will be created till 2019, including on ski landing gear, able to work in the Arctic. Other projects are connected with creation of ships “river-sea” of ice class, special caterpillar vehicles and hovercrafts, as the head of the state commission says. Also the state commission plans to create the special “arctic” quality mark being given to products and technologies that will successfully pass testing with the Arctic.
