The exhibition “Labyrinths in permafrost” starts its work in the children’s center of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of Ivan Shemanovskiy on the 25th of September. It is a sensory-gaming space united with one theme - ornaments created on birch-bark items from the archaeological collection of the Museum.

The archaeological collection of the museum contains a large number of ornamented vessels made of birch bark dated with different periods of history, starting from the Bronze Age - five thousand years ago - and ending with the 19th century. The permafrost layer in our region allowed these masterpieces of ancient and traditional art to remain and amaze us with their splendor and mystery.

The project was conceived as an interactive exhibition for children and grownups with disabilities, but in the process of development it became obvious that it will be interesting to any viewer of any age.

Both independently and together with experts in a variety of game form visitors will be able to get acquainted with the visual heritage of the peoples living on the territory of the Lower Ob region and the Yamal Peninsula for many hundreds of years. To see how the line turns into sound, to visit the magic sensory room, to touch the ancient patterns and to create your own ones. The exhibition will run till the 19th of February of 2020.
