Now in Yamal it is possible to telephone from the coast of the Arctic Ocean

The company "MegaFon" completed building of the northernmost base station on the whole European part of Russia and provided builders of arctic infrastructure and the plant on liquefying of natural gas with communication.

Now subscribers of the operator can telephone from the coast of the Arctic Ocean without any obstacles, as it is informed on the portal 66.ru. The base station is situated in the settlement Sabetta of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. 19 people of indigenous population live here, other inhabitants are rotation workers – about 10 thousand people. Development of the South-Tambey gas condensate field, construction of the plant on liquefying of natural gas is conducted here within the project "Yamal LNG". It is planned to start up the plant already next year. Transport arctic infrastructure – the sea port and the airport - is actively being prepared. Preparation to installation of the base station in Sabetta was conducted during a year and a half. The project was complicated with so that it was possible to reach the location only by helicopter or icebreaker. According to the words of the director of Surgut branch of the company "MegaFon" Oleg Shadrin, even having tickets, people had to wait for a flight during months. First they waited for summer weather, then – let pass to priority cargoes. Exactly construction and startup of the object of communication took one week. People had to work in conditions of the polar night, frost and wind up to 50 meters per second. And now workers of "Yamal LNG" and inhabitants of the settlement Sabetta received reliable communication on the coast of the Arctic Ocean.
