Oil reserves in the Kara Sea are bigger than announced earlier

Within the meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin the minister for energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak declared that reserves in the field Pobeda on the area "Universitetskaya-1" in the Kara Sea made about 500 million tons of oil.

These figures considerably exceed the data announced earlier by Rosneft – 128 million and 700 thousand tons of oil reserves that were received in the course of joint drilling with the company ExxonMobil, as the website Barentsobserver informs. In autumn of 2014 Rosneft conducted drilling work at support of Norwegian and American partners. But this work was stopped because of the western sanctions against joint researches of the arctic shelves. Now Rosneft stopped practically the whole planned drilling work.
