"Professor Molchanov" will arrive to Yamal in August

The program of scientific and research work for 2014 on the board of the ship "Professor Molchanov" on the joint project of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University and the Northern Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring "The Arctic floating university" was approved. Two voyages will be organized this summer.

By the information given on the website newsday29.ru, the first expedition will start on the 1st of June. The route of "Professor Molchanov" will go through the White Sea and the Barents Sea to Spitsbergen and later, after some hydrological sections near the north-western coast of Novaya Zemlya, it is planned to come back to Archangelsk to the 30th of June. The second expedition will start on the 1st of August. The ship will come to Kolguyev Island, later to Vaygach Island, the Yamal peninsula and Beliy Island. "Professor Molchanov" will reach the northernmost continental point of Eurasia – Cape Cheluskin. "The Arctic floating university" also will go to Bolshevik Island and Dikson. It is planned that the ship will come back to Archangelsk on the 21st of August.
