Rosneft and the Association of Polar Explorers will cooperate in the Arctic

The president of Rosneft Igor Sechin and the president of the Association of Polar Explorers Artur Chilingarov signed the agreement about cooperation. The sides agreed to interact in exploration and development of the arctic shelf of the Russian Federation.

As IA "Arktika-Info" informs, Rosneft and the association will fulfill together basic directions of state policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and will perfect legislative base in issues of development of the Arctic zone. The sides also will develop polar sciences and will form system of education of personnel for work in arctic conditions, will elaborate and introduce new kinds of methods and technologies. It is planned to conduct the joint organizing and conducting of nature-protecting expeditions in the Far North, to participate in forming and fulfilling of programs on environmental protection of polar regions. Rosneft and the association agreed to collect, to analyze and to spread information about researching and studying of the Arctic, prospects of development of the region, to popularize arctic projects. Besides, they will perfect system of technical regulations on issues of safety of economic activity in the Arctic, to achieve for their harmonization with international standards. Within the conditions of the agreement Rosneft and the association are obliged to participate in working groups, committees, commissions and other collegial bodies, which will prepare the program on integrated research of the Arctic, which allow elaborating precise ecological rules for development of the shelf and principles for special mode of economic activity in the region.
