Rosneft will renew the system of meteorological observations in the Kara Sea

This year the company "Rosneft" will completely restore the system of meteorological observations in the Kara Sea within the program of research of the Arctic shelf. As it is explained in the company, till this time 6 stations of meteorological observations worked in the region. Last summer within the expedition "Kara-summer-2013" the company Rosneft set other three modern meteorological stations on the coast of the archipelago Novaya Zemlya. This year the Arctic scientific and designing center (the Arctic center) created by Rosneft and ExxonMobil plans to construct one more station on Uyedineniya Island (Solitude Island) in the Kara Sea. The effective meteorological system of 10 objects will start working after that.

Since this year Rosneft starts restoring meteorological observations in other regions of the Arctic. Automatic stations will be set on Preobrazheniya Island (the Laptev Sea) and Zhokhov Island (the East Siberian Sea). The unified system of meteorological observations will allow optimizing work on geological prospecting and increasing effectiveness of work at extraction, will give a start to full-scale scientific and research programs on exploration of the region. The amount of collected information goes far beyond limits of researches necessary for the beginning of prospecting work on the shelf of the Arctic Ocean. The received data can considerably increase quality of weather forecasts in interests of the whole country, as "PravoTEK" (LawTEK) informs.
