Russia increased its gas reserves owing to extractive fields discovered in Yamal
59 new fields of hydrocarbon raw materials were discovered and put on the state registration in Russia in 2019: 54 oil fields, 3 gas condensate fields, 1 gas-oil field and 1 gas field. Their total reserves in categories C1+C2 makes 68 million 600 thousand tonnes of oil, 559 milliard 600 million cubic meters of natural gas and 5 million 300 thousand tonnes of condensate. In addition, the increase in hydrocarbon reserves in Russia was provided with geological prospecting work on previously known deposits.
Gas and gas condensate fields discovered by Gazprom and NOVATEK on the shelf of the Kara Sea became the most significant discoveries of the previous year, as the Argus Media Group reports with reference to the materials of the Federal Agency for the Subsoil Use (Rosnedra). For example, Gazprom discovered the gas condensate field named after V. A. Dinkov in the marine area on the shelf of the Yamal Peninsula, its total gas reserves make 391 milliard cubic meters in C1+C2 categories, what allow considering the field unique in terms of reserves. The Dinkov field is located within Rusanovskoye license area. Nyarmeyskoye field - the second one discovered by Gazprom in 2019 on the shelf of the Kara Sea - is classified as large; its gas reserves are estimated at 121 milliard cubic meters in C1+C2 categories.
The significant increase in gas reserves was provided with geological prospecting work on a number of already discovered fields of Gazprom, including Kruzenshternskoye, a terrestrial part of which is located in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a marine one - on the shelf of the Kara Sea. The increase in gas reserves in category C1 made 250 milliard and 700 million cubic meters, and in category C2 – 109 milliard and 400 million cubic meters. The increase in gas reserves in Ludlovskoye gas condensate field of Gazprom (the shelf of the Barents Sea) in 2019 amounted to 39 milliard and 400 million cubic meters in category C1, and at the Yuzhno-Soleninskoye field in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug – 24 milliard and 800 million cubic meters in categories A+B1.
Last year NOVATEK discovered large Nyakhartinskoye gas condensate field, a terrestrial part of which is located on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and a marine part – on the shelf of the Kara Sea. The total gas reserves of the field in categories C1+C2 are estimated at 47 milliard and 500 million cubic meters.
