Russia is creating a special helicopter for the Arctic

The holding "Russian Helicopters" is elaborating the helicopter, which will be used actively in the arctic latitudes. This information was given on the exhibition HeliRussia-2014 in Moscow by the director general of the holding Alexander Mikheyev.

As we should remind, the Ministry for defense of Russia informs that on the arctic coast of Russia it is planned to create the aviation group of 14 aerial vehicles: 12 helicopters and 2 planes. They will be based on aerodromes of Murmansk, Vorkuta, Norilsk and Anadyr. During the latest years Russia started active development of northern territories and also the Northern Sea Route, which is becoming the alternative to traditional routes from Europe to Asia. The complex of measures, including of military character, is directed to protection of Russian interests in the Arctic. In the beginning of April the President Vladimir Putin entrusted the Federal Security Service to develop frontier infrastructure in the Arctic.
