Safe icebreaking support. The icebreakers “Taymyr” and “Vaygach” support ships in the district of the Gulf of Ob
The nuclear-powered icebreaker “Taymyr” of Atomflot successfully completed icebreaking support of the motor ship “Varzuga” on the 22nd of May.
The ship went from Murmansk to the port of Sabetta. The trip from the Kara Sea, where it was taken under support by “Taymyr”, to the port of destination took 4 days. Earlier the icebreaker “Taymyr” completed work in the district of the Yenisei River. The bulk carrier “Arktika-1” was the last ship being supported from the port of Dudinka by the icebreaker of Rosatomflot. Then in the district of Cape Zhelaniya “Taymyr” passed the ship to the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Yamal”, which led “Arktika-1” beyond the ice edge. Two light-draught nuclear-powered icebreakers of Rosatomflot provide safe icebreaking support of tankers in the district of the Gulf of Ob. At the present time the icebreaker “Vaygach” is supporting the ship ICE EAGLE on the route towards the western ice edge and is preparing to support the tanker ICE CONDOR on the route to Mys Kamenniy. On water areas of the Northern Sea Route the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Taymyr” will work till August and then it will come back to the base of Atomflot to pass the planned repair. Arrival to the homeport Murmansk of the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Vaygach” is scheduled for the beginning of July to replenish food reserve and to change the crew, as it is informed in the office of communications of Rosatomflot.
