Saint Petersburg will learn about the second wave of development of Yamal

This year the Autonomous Okrug is planning to conduct the Days of Yamal in Saint Petersburg – the social and informational project “The second wave of development of Yamal”, within which specialists will tell about the modern region.

Also it is planned to sign the additional agreement with Saint Petersburg to fulfill state policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic. This information was given by the first deputy director of the department of international and external economic relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Sergey Uramayev. In Saint Petersburg he participated in the interdepartmental conference on organizational measures on strengthening the role of industry and science of Saint Petersburg in development of the Russian Arctic zone. Representatives of industrial, scientific and educational organizations of Saint Petersburg became its participants. The meeting of Sergey Uramayev and the chairman of the committee of Saint Petersburg on Arctic Affairs German Shirokov took place within the event. They made contacts and planned possible kinds of interaction between the regions in the sphere of development and exploration of the Arctic. According to the regional department of international and external economic relations, Yamal has cooperated with Saint Petersburg closely since 2006. Within the conference the governor of Saint Petersburg Grigory Poltavchenko initiated creation of the committee of Saint Petersburg on Arctic Affairs, which will coordinate work of Petersburg establishments and experts in the sphere of development of the Arctic. The participants listened to reports and suggestions on improvement of work of all departments in the Arctic direction: from industrial development to improvement of quality of population’s life in regions of the Far North. In the conclusion of the conference the participants decided to elaborate the joint plan of actions on further development of the Arctic.
