Scientists discovered manifestations of hydrocarbon fields in Baydaratskaya Bay
Russian scientists discovered tens of manifestations of hydrocarbon fields in coastal districts of the Kara Sea and the Pechora Sea. These fields can give new milliards cubic meters of gas per year for Russia. The specialists refer Pechora Bay and Baydaratskaya Bay near the Yamal peninsula to the most promising districts.
Prospects of extraction are very considerable. For example, already in 2015 gas extraction can exceed 8 milliard cubic meters only in Baydaratskaya Bay on UKPG-1 (a gas treatment unit). On UKPG-2 in the same bay gas extraction can be kept on the level of 8 milliard cubic meters till 2017. Especially, it is important that prospects of development look more real than development of giant fields as Shtokman, as the informational and analytical portal "Neft Rossii" (oilru.com) informs. The matter is in so that the manifestations of hydrocarbons discovered by the scientists on the sea shelf are situated on the small depth and very close to the coast. In particular, the gas-bearing structure "Yara-yakhskoye" in Baydaratskaya Bay is situated in 2 kilometers from the coast on the depth of the sea up to 5 meters, "Yumb-yakhskoye" – within 5 kilometers from the coast at the depth up to 8 meters. Under the structure "Marresale" the sea has the depth up to 10 meters, and it is situated in about 4 kilometers from the coast. Proximity of the future fields to the coast simplifies work for oil and gas workers. The technologies of drilling of horizontal wells to very big distances are elaborated. Owing to them such fields can be developed from the coast. It means that it is not necessary to build large constructions in the sea – such as artificial islands, often inadmissible in conditions of extremely vulnerable arctic nature. Though gas workers have to work in very severe climate.
