Scientists from Yamal plan to research the Gydan peninsula and the Polar Urals

For 2016 scientists from Yamal plan to fulfill the complex program on the Gydan peninsula, which includes archeological and ethnological researches, study of cryolithozone. This information was given on the press-conference in the news agency "Sever-Press" by the acting director of the scientific center for study of the Arctic, candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences Anton Sinitskiy. He told about importance of these researches.

As he notes, for example, on the Yamal peninsula subsoil users work during many years; and scientists cannot evaluate background indications of water environment, soil, as they were before arrival of fuel and energy complex. Prospecting work takes place actively on the Gydan peninsula. And it is not a secret that during the coming years subsoil users will come here with their infrastructure and all consequences. Therefore, it is important that science should be the first to come here and should start exactly complex researches. The scientists will use all directions, which are developed in the scientific center. It is very important, for example, to work with local population. The sector of ethnology will participate in social survey of indigenous people, who are not involved into industrial activity. It is necessary to take background indications from humans and nature before technogenic influence. According to the words of Anton Sinitskiy, the Polar Urals will become another priority territory for use of scientific forces. Study of glaciers of the mountain ridge in cooperation with colleagues from scientific establishments from other regions is ahead. It will allow evaluating the situation with climate change locally. Also employees of the center intend to be busy with scientific support of natural reserves and natural parks of the Polar Urals that require for control and observations.
