Scientists of Yamal found two hundred artifacts in Zelyoniy Yar
This summer scientists of Yamal opened 8 burial places on the archeological complex Zelyoniy Yar. Two of them were children’s. One is, supposedly, woman’s. Others, more likely, belonged to men.
Burial of two persons in one grave was researched. One of them was partially mummified. This information was given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by a researcher of the center for study of the Arctic Alexander Gusev. He reminds that the archeological complex Zelyoniy Yar consists of two burial parts of different times - the 8-9th and 13th centuries - and a settlement layer of the 6-7th century AD. Alexander Gusev also told about researching of the medieval bonfire place that contained big amount of broken ceramics, decorations, fragments of bronze items. More than 200 artifacts were found this year in the result of the archeological work. The bigger amount of anthropological materials – mummified remains of people in comparison to other years was found, as the scientist notes. It will allow studying sanitary state of the society, diseases of people, pathology of bones and others more deeply.
