Security of the Arctic. One of ten rescue and emergency centers will be created in Nadym

The Ministry for emergency situations is developing the system of complex security of the Arctic zone; it will be based on ten rescue and emergency centers. The complex centers will be created in Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Naryan-Mar, Vorkuta, Nadym, Dudinka, Anadyr, Pevek and the settlements of Tiksi and Provideniya. Four of them have been already opened. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitriy Rogozin informed about it on the meeting of the state commission on the Arctic development and the Marine Board.

According to his words, it is difficult to call the Arctic “gentle and hospitable, available environment for residence”. Almost any activity in the Arctic is associated with increased risk of natural and technogenic character, therefore “it needs to consider possibilities of risks increasing in connection with the prospect of growth of oil and gas production, with development of transport and other infrastructure”. As Deputy Prime Minister notes, in 2020-2022 Russia will be finally secured in this region with new technologies, new ports, traffic interchanges, with new shelf and marine technologies, as arctic-info.ru informs. Of course, the highest priority should be given to security of human life and health in the Arctic, as Dmitry Rogozin says. Well-built and well-functioning security system in the Arctic zone is an important factor to increase investment attractiveness and development of the Northern Sea Route, as he underlines.
