Shamans and gods of peoples – in the paintings by a Nenets artist Leonid Lar

The exhibition of the Nenets artist-ethnographer Leonid Lar "Shamans and gods of peoples" is taking place in the museum of development of the North in the town Gubkinskiy.

By the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" by the director of the museum Yelena Kalitenko, the authorial works by the artist are being presented on the exposition. Idols, shamans and gods are heroes of these paintings. The imaginary world is depicted in the paintings by the artist in authentic forms; the personages look as if they exist in reality. As in traditional Nenets folklore, both earth and cosmos are inhabited and alive. The works contain thoughts about a place and a purpose of humans in this world, about their relations with nature. Leonid Lar is a member of the Union of artists of Russia, a candidate of historical sciences, a participant of all-Russian and international exhibitions. He also is the author of thematic compositions.
