Soul of tundra. The ethnic festival of Yamal will gather guests from the whole Russia

The ethnic festival “Soul of tundra” will take place in Salekhard from the 17th to the 19th of June.

The action on saving and developing of folkloristic traditions of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North is conducted in Yamal for the first time. This information was given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by the manager on public relations of the regional house of crafts Olesya Syazi. The ethnic festival was organized by the department of culture of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the regional Center for national cultures and the regional House of crafts. Artists, original craftspeople from Yamal, Yugra, Kirov, Tyumen, Kurgan and Nenets Autonomous Okrug will participate in it. The program includes the open ethnic holiday “The constellation of cultures”, the fair “The world of crafts”, the contest for the best craftswomen of indigenous peoples of Yamal, the concert “Legends and myths of the northern land” and the creative laboratory “Forgotten crafts”. Craftspeople will conduct master-classes on lost kinds of crafts: they will make items of fish leather, will process bones on an ancient lathe tool, will make a rope of willow bark. The gala-concert of representatives from Yakutia, Khakasiya, Chukotka and the Republic of Komi will become the decoration of the event. The ethnic festival will be completed with the bright fire-show of the Moscow Theater of fire legends “Salamandra”.
