Sportspeople from Yamal set records on the Powerlifting World Championship

In Finland on the Classic Powerlifting World Championship the sportspeople from Noviy Urengoy (Yamal) won bronze medals and set world records in some kinds of exercises.

Three sportsmen from Yamal Gennady Smirnov, Alexander Vlasov and Nikolay Volkov performed within the national team of Russia. In the squat Gennady Smirnov set two new world records 247.5 and 252.5 kilograms. Nikolay Volkov renewed world records in the bench press – 132.5 kilograms, 142.5 and 147.5 kilograms. Alexander Vlasov became the bronze winner in the squat with the result 190 kilograms. This information was given to IA "Sever-Press" in the informational and analytical board at the administration of Noviy Urengoy. More than 1000 strongest athletes from Russia, Scandinavia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Peru and Kazakhstan participated in the competitions. By the results of the competitions, the team of Russia took the third place among sportspeople of 50-59 years old.
