Successful drilling. Oil production will be increased in Novoportovskoye field

Oil-and-gas-bearing capacity of the area and the high prospects of Jurassic strata in the northern part of Novoportovskoye oil, gas, condensate field were confirmed with the launch of the first exploitation well.

Pilot well No. 9653 with the length 3978 meters was drilled at cluster site No. 21 to formation Yu2-6, the initial flow rate made 140 tonnes of oil per day. During its development 21-stage hydraulic fracturing was carried out with use of Premium Port technology, which had been tested for the first time in conditions of the Arctic latitudes by “Gazpromneft-Yamal” in 2016. Hydraulic fracturing in conditions of increased gas factor allows extracting oil from Novoportovskoye field efficiently and safely. The program of experimental-industrial activities of fulfillment of the project includes drilling process and development of three exploitation wells to Novoportovskoye and Jurassic strata, selection and study of core and also fulfillment of the enhanced complex of geophysical researches. The received results will allow removing geological uncertainties, to update the profile of oil and gas production, to define the optimal concept of development and arrangement in this part of the field. Development of the northern part of Novoportovskoye field in the future will allow the company significantly to increase indexes of extraction of liquid hydrocarbons in the arctic region. Successful drilling of the first exploitation well is one more significant milestone in history of the project “Novy Port”. The full-scale startup of production infrastructure in the northern part of the license area is scheduled for 2021, and the company is steadily moving towards the planned goal. It was noted by Aleksey Ovechkin, the director general of “Gazpromneft-Yamal”. The project on development of the northern part of Novoportovskoye field was launched in 2016 to extend the existing production infrastructure of the field for development of new oil deposits. Extractable reserves of the project of categories C1 and C2 make more than 30 million and 100 thousand tonnes of oil and 25 million and 500 thousand cubic meters of gas. Novoportovskoye is one of the largest oil, gas, condensate fields being developed on the Yamal Peninsula. Extractable reserves of categories C1 and C2 make more than 250 million tonnes of oil and condensate and more than 320 milliard cubic meters of gas. “Gazpromneft-Yamal”, a subsidiary of “Gazprom Neft”, is busy with development of the asset. 5 million and 500 thousand tonnes of oil were extracted in Novoportovskoye field in 2017.
