The agreement on improving of life of northern indigenous peoples was signed in Tyumen Oblast
The governor of Tyumen Oblast Vladimir Yakushev and the president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East Grigory Ledkov signed the agreement about cooperation. The document will allow continuing work on improvement of socioeconomic situation of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North and protection of their rights.
By the words of Vladimir Yakushev, there are 150 ethnic groups in Tyumen Oblast. State support from the regional and federal budgets is rendered to indigenous peoples. Also the agreement about cooperation between the government of Tyumen Oblast and the company "Rosneft" assists to improve life of indigenous peoples. More than 1 million rubles are allocated from the regional budget for activities in the sphere of culture for this year, as IA "Tyumenskaya Linia" informs. Representatives of northern peoples are integrated to social and political structure of the region. As Grigory Ledkov notes, Tyumen Oblast, Yugra and Yamal are included to the list of leaders among subjects of the Russian Federation, where real activities on preservation of culture of northern indigenous peoples take place. By his words, it needs only to establish regulating procedures on issues of support of rights of northern indigenous peoples on the federal level. He expresses hope that the agreement will play a considerable role in improvement of socioeconomic position of indigenous peoples.
