The ambitious plans. Resource base of Yamal will allow NOVATEK to show itself

In the long term prospect NOVATEK can produce more than 80 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year; resource base of the Yamal and Gydan peninsulas allows achieving it.

This opinion was expressed to journalists by the deputy chairman of the board of the company Mark Gyetvay on the sidelines of the gas conference Flame, as TASS reports. Answering the question, whether NOVATEK can reach the level of LNG production of more than 70 million tonnes by 2035, he notes that by this date it will be difficult to reach such level. According to him, the company can produce more than 70 million tonnes, but not by 2035. Resource base of Gydan and Yamal allows producing more than 80 million tonnes, as he says. The head of the company Leonid Mikhelson said that the capacity of the first plant on production of liquefied gas “Yamal LNG” would be significantly higher than the declared 16 million and 500 thousand tonnes of LNG per year. NOVATEK is also developing construction of additional gas liquefaction lines on its plants. In particular, the capacity of such line is planned at the level of 0.9 million tonnes on “Yamal LNG”. Earlier, NOVATEK announced the plans to produce up to 55-57 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas by 2030, and after 2030 – already up to 70 million tonnes, and thus to become one of the world’s largest exporters of LNG.
