In the beginning of July archeologists will start the field season in the ancient settlement Yarte-6.

A part of the settlement and the economic complex will stay untouched. This information was given by the senior researcher of the center for study of the Arctic Andrey Plekhanov on the press-conference in the news agency IA "Sever-Press". He explains this decision with developing of methods, appearing of new approaches, an opportunity to attract scientists from other regions with use of advanced methodologies and views in order to research this part of the monument with help of innovations. Opening of surface, which is situated right on the ground of the settlement, will be continued during this field season. As Andrey Plekhanov notes, the latest excavations and study of tundra testify that the settlement was not only the place of residence but also the economic center, around which camps and villages of approximately of the same time were concentrated. Basically they were researched in the process of prospecting and were not subjected under stationary excavations. It is planned for 2016 and next years. As the archeologist says, this year also as in the previous year colleagues from foreign countries will work in Yarte-6. Representatives from France, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia and Great Britain will not take direct part in the excavations, but they will be busy with natural geological and other kinds of analytic work. For example, they will study soil on salt remains. Confirmation of so that ancient nomads used salt (that is absent in Yamal) for additional nutrition of deer will help to trace their migration, spread of trade and economic relations. The foreign colleagues will conduct analysis of soils for lipids. It is connected with remains of decomposition of animals. This is energy-intensive and complicated way to receive samples, as the scientist notes. The big base around the whole Eurasia and the circumpolar region is being accumulated now this way. On the basis of such analysis it is possible to learn what animals were present here. Magnetic survey will be conducted. Without destroying of the cultural layer it will allow researching if the residential layer adjoined to the production ground of the ancient settlement.
