The company "Sevmorgeo" is preparing to the start of field work on Ust-Ob area

The company "Sevmorgeo" (included into the holding "Rosgeologia") is completing the stage of pre-field work on the state contract for regional geological-geophysical researches of Ust-Ob area, as the agency of oil and gas information "Samotlor-express" informs.

The object with the area in more than 20 thousand square kilometers is situated in the south-western part of Yamal and includes the delta of the Ob River and the southern part of the Gulf of Ob – the basic navigation artery of the region. Peculiarities of geological composition of the region preconditioned diversity of possible zones of oil and gas accumulation, what is confirmed with the previous researches. By the words of the chief geologist of "Sevmorgeo", a candidate of geological-mineralogical sciences Ilya Vinokurov, Ust-Ob area is very prospective from the point of view of oil-gas bearing capacity. The researches were conducted here before. Sevmorgeo participated in them as well. But, by his words, the region of the Gulf of Ob is not covered with regular system of regional seismic profiles. In June specialists of Sevmorgeo will start conducting of seismic prospecting work in conditions of limiting shallow waters on Ust-Ob area. The total amount of the planned researches makes more than 1000 running kilometers of seismic profiles 2D with approach to land. Since the end of last year the company has fulfilled processing and re-interpreting of the materials of seismic prospecting conducted earlier. Having prepared the geological map, Sevmorgeo will conduct assessment of prospects of oil-gas bearing capacity of the area, will mark prospective objects and will evaluate forecasted localized resources on category D1 on their basis. Recommendations on organizing of further geological prospecting work and defining of objects of licensing should become the result of this work. Sevmorgeo is obliged to complete the researches till the end of 2015. The company received the right for conducting of this work on Ust-Ob area last October, having won the tender organized by Rosnedra (The Federal Agency for Subsoil Use).
