The sixth All-Russian maritime scientific and practical conference "Arctic-2015: the Northern Sea Route – development of arctic communications in global economy" took place in Murmansk on board of the training sailing ship "Sedov".

According to the words of the governor of Murmansk Oblast Marina Kovtun, the conference "Arctic" is called to demonstrate revival of interest in Russia to high latitudes. As she said on the opening ceremony: "Development of the Arctic region is the most important strategic task on fulfillment of potential of our country. This is our powerful resource in international competition, and we must use it. Today in conditions of complicated geopolitical situation and sanctions imposed against Russia we clearly understand how important is consolidation of efforts of all levels and branches of the power, business, science and society for overcoming of challenges, which our country faces". In the opinion of the head of the region, development of the Arctic has big significance not only for socioeconomic development of the country in general but also for observation of balance of interests between all arctic subjects of the Russian Federation and also for development of arctic territories. As she declares, it is pleasant to see interest of regions situated in the Arctic zone in advancement of the arctic agenda. Each region has its own specifics and makes its unique contribution to fulfillment of national interests of Russia in the Arctic. As the head of the region underlines, the Northern Sea Route – the national unified transport communication of Russia in the Arctic is the basic link between arctic subjects, as IA "Arktika-Info" informs. 6 scientific sessions took place within the conference on the following issues: exploration and development of the Northern Sea Route in historical retrospective of the 20th-21st centuries; national security of the Arctic group of forces of the Navy and the Border guard service of the Federal Security Service of Russia; the arctic vector of Russian geopolitical renaissance; management of sea nature use and development of industrial fishery; modernization of development and transportation of energy resources of the Arctic; tendencies and specifics of modern socioeconomic development of the arctic coast.
