The ecologists of “Green Arctic” will borrow experience of their foreign colleagues
The participants of the interregional public ecological-sociological organization “Green Arctic” addressed to their colleagues from international organizations - the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace with a request to share experience on struggle against anthrax.
The chairperson of “Green Arctic” Aleksey Rudkovskiy told about it on the press conference in the news agency IA “Sever-Press” on the 19th of August. He recalled that not so long ago a similar situation with the animal disease had happened in Sweden. Aleksey Rudkovskiy tells that summer for the environmental organization is the busiest time to fulfill projects, the second group of volunteers is now working on Beliy Island, is monitoring Vilkitsky Island, and the decision for its cleaning is being taken. Despite the heavy load, the ecologists considered it their duty to join in the process on liquidation of consequences of the anthrax and to render help. They participated in forming and collecting of humanitarian assistance to the affected tundra-dwellers, contributed to sending transport for needs of the military men, who conducted disinfection of the territory. All inhabitants of Yamal, industrial enterprises, authorities showed themselves as a big family, when faced with a serious problem, as Aleksey Rudkovskiy notes. “We loaded and sent large number of things, household appliances and made sure that the nomads were not abandoned, they received any help”. The volunteers also make sure that life in tundra goes on and nobody succumbs to pessimistic moods.
