The exhibition of the best photographs about the Arctic in Syktyvkar

The exhibition of the best works of the international contest of northern and arctic photographs "Global Arctic Awards" is taking place in Syktyvkar in the Finno-Ugric center of Russia.

A photographer from Yamal, Sergey Anisimov is the initiator of the exhibition and the organizer of the contest "Global Arctic Awards".

He is a traveler and a photographer, he visited many countries of the world, but northern and arctic districts of our planet are his favorite places for taking pictures - Franz Joseph Land, Beliy Island, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Wrangel Island, Canada, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Yamal. According to the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" by Sergey Anisimov, winners and laureates of "Global Arctic Awards 2014" presented their works. This is a prestige international contest, which received accreditation of international photo-organizations for the first time in Russian practice. The professional jury consisting of representatives of different countries chose the best works. About 170 works by 90 professional photographers of the world level from 22 countries of the world will be presented on the exhibition. The photos were made in interesting and unique parts of the Polar Area – on the archipelago Franz Joseph Land, Novaya Zemlya, Vaygach Island and Severnaya Zemlya, on Taymyr. A part of the exposition is dedicated to natural landscapes and the animal world of this region; other photos depict historical monuments of the Arctic telling about prominent explorers of the past and the present.
