The experimental wind-driven power plant was started up in the town Labytnangi
The first WDPP in the Subarctic was started up in Labytnangi. Representatives of the regional government and JSC Mobile Energy, who worked on the project during 2 years, arrived to the opening ceremony.
The WDPP of Danish production was finished by Russian specialists for conditions of the Far North. Owing to insulation of blades of the windmill and the heating system, it can produce energy at the air temperature up to 50C degrees below zero. The height of the installation makes 30 meters. Capacity makes 250 kilowatt. The whole produced energy will be delivered to the common system of the town. According to the words of the specialists, the forecasted average annual production rate of the WDPP makes 545 thousand kilowatt per hour. The WDPP is automated completely. One person is necessary to control it remotely. The WDPP is experimental. Decisions, which will be inculcated in remote northern settlements in the future, will be tested here. Use of renewable sources of energy will allow achieving for considerable economy of diesel fuel. It was noted by the director general of the company JSC Mobile Energy Yuriy Mirchevskiy. About 20 million rubles were spent for startup of the WDPP. The specialists of the company hope that it will pay for itself in 6-8 years. As the director of the department of tariff policy, energy, housing and communal complex of Yamal Mikhail Gilyov notes, this is a remarkable project exactly for small power engineering. Now windmills work in Austria, Germany, France. There, where there are no severe winters and such wind burdens. And if the specialists of Yamal start up such a power plant here, they will show that they can work with a wind in climate conditions of the region. It will be the world achievement. At that, the WDPP in Yamal is cheaper that American analogues. As we should note, Yamal was recognized by specialists as one of promising regions of Russia for development of wind power engineering. Winds of northern directions with speed up to 30 meters per second predominate on the territory of the region.
