The first hackathon on the Polar Circle. The prize fund is 600 thousand rubles

The first open forum of developers of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will start its work in Salekhard on the 21st of October. 80 young professionals and beginners in the sphere of information technology aged 18 to 35 years old from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Kirov, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Yamal will meet at the venue of the Youth entertainment complex “Polaris” to participate in the hackathon. Hackathon is a special format of competition in the sphere of IT. The name consists of two words – “hacker” and “marathon”.

The task for the participants, who will be part of 23 teams, will be difficult - in 48 hours to create prototypes of software solutions (Internet services, mobile applications, bots, plugins). As a rule, tasks at the hackathon are formed of real problems, for solving of which the organizers are looking for fresh ideas. For example, one of the cases offered to the participants is called “Mom is worried”. In summer many children go to children’s camps, and parents, of course, are worried. The contestants will have to think about how grownups can remove this worry and make sure that a child lives comfortably. In total, during the competition it is planned to develop seven cases in three areas – “Volunteering as the lifestyle”, “Technology. No questions asked”, “Culture and art. Space of development”. To be able to cope with the task the teams can work even at night, and it is worth it. The prize fund of the hackathon on the Polar Circle is 600 thousand rubles. Specialists famous in this sphere will work with the participants of the hackathon – an expert in machine learning, the author of the course Data Mining in Action and specialization “Machine learning and data analysis” on Coursera Victor Kantor, CEO of the EORA group of companies Roman Doronin, the leader of the community Russian Hackers Alexander Malyshev, the first deputy director of Technological park “SKOLKOVO” Nailya Ilmanbetova.

The regional department of youth policy and tourism with support of the department of information technologies and communications, the Youth center of employment technologies, the regional youth center is the organizer of the forum.
