The first journey of "The Arctic Floating University 2014" will start on the first of June

Preparation to the first journey of "The Arctic Floating University 2014" is taking place in the Northern (Arctic) Federal University.

By the information given in the press-service of the higher education institution, the first organizational meeting of candidates for participation in the joint expedition project of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University and the Northern Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring "The Arctic Floating University 2014" took place at the university. About 50 students and employees of the higher education institution will go to the Arctic on the first of June. It is supposed that the scientific and research ship "Professor Molchanov" will go through the White Sea and the Barents Sea to Spitsbergen, after that, having fulfilled a row of hydrological sections near the north-western coast of Novaya Zemlya, it will come back to Archangelsk on the 30th of June. It is planned to conduct big work on the archipelago Spitsbergen on the basis of the Russian scientific center in the settlement Barentsburg. The field group will work during 10 days. Also the big complex of oceanographic and meteorological researches will be conducted. This information was given in the higher education institution. The pro-rector on scientific work of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University Konstantin Bogolitsin congratulated the participants with the official opening of the expedition season of this year. The university has sent young scientists to study the Arctic region already for the fourth time. From the scientific point of view this is valuable experience: thus specialists receive objective data, which, in their turn, are laid into the basis of serious researches. The administration of the university took the decision to publish the collective scientific monograph by the results of the expeditions of this year. Information, which had been received in the course of the expeditions earlier, was published in the form of reports.
