The gas extraction center in Yamal has huge gas resources

The new gas extraction center in Yamal is the future of the country’s gas industry. This information was given by the head of the company Aleksey Miller in the interview with the channel “Rossiya 24”.

“Extractive fields of the Nadym-Pur-Taz region are being gradually depleted, and we are moving further and further to the north. The gas extraction center in Yamal has huge gas resources. There are 16 trillion and 600 milliard cubic meters on the balance of “Gazprom”, and, really, these are reserves of global significance”, Aleksey Miller said. According to him, “Gazprom” in Yamal has several basic supporting extractive fields - Bovanenkovo, Kharasaveyskoye and Kruzenshternskoye. Two gas production facilities have already been built in Bovanenkovo, and now its project capacity makes 90 milliard cubic meters of gas. “By the end of the year gas production facility No. 3 will be input to operation, and we shall bring the amount of production in Bovanenkovo field to the project level - 115 milliard cubic meters. This is a little less than one fourth of the whole gas production of Gazprom”, Aleksey Miller said. At the same time, as he notes, extraction in Bovanenkovo will be fulfilled till 2128, in other words, during next 110 years; another five generations of gas workers will work in it. According to him, there is no doubt that Bovanenkovo will be followed by development of Kharasaveyskoye and in the future Kruzenshternskoye field. The decision on full-scale development of Kharasaveyskoye field from the beginning of 2019 has already been made, and the plan of activities on development will be elaborated till the end of August. Gas extraction there will be started in 2023; the amount will make 32 milliard cubic meters per year. According to Aleksey Miller, after these fields “Gazprom” will start developing fields of Tambey group. “Last year we put another 5 trillion cubic meters of gas on the balance, and in total current reserves of Tambey group make 7 trillion and 700 milliard cubic meters”, he said. The head of “Gazprom” called ensuring of stability and safety of gas deliveries to consumers as the main task of arrangement of extractive fields in Yamal. A part of extractive fields of “Gazprom” in Yamal is located in water area of the Kara Sea, but, according to Aleksey Miller, it is not difficult, because wells with horizontal tailing-in will be built from the coast. “Gazprom” already actively works on the shelf. “The shelf is our future. We still have very, very large reserves on land, but when we say that “Gazprom” has resource base in Yamal in 16 trillion and 600 milliard cubic meters of gas – it includes extractive fields on the shelf”, Aleksey Miller said.
