The governor’s ensemble of ethnic songs “Seetey Yamal” is the heritage of the arctic region

The jubilee concert of the governor’s ensemble of ethnic songs “Seetey Yamal” took place in the Cultural and Business Center of Salekhard on the 10th of December with full audience. The popular original collective is celebrating the 50th anniversary. Congratulations and warm words were said on the day. The governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov wished the ensemble for new creative achievements.

“During half a century you give the audience in Yamal unforgettable moments of meeting with true art. The team consistently demonstrates unique capacity for work, talent and skill. Your performances are filled with great love for your native land. You rightfully take an honorable place not only in Russia, but also in the world”, he said.

The head of the region gave the diploma “Heritage of Yamal” to the head of the ensemble Diana Ukolova. It became a special present. According to Dmitry Artyukhov, “Seetey Yamal” is the heritage of the arctic region, the collective managed to preserve traditions and unique culture of the Autonomous Okrug.

The ensemble presented the new concert program “Dance of white ice”. The ethno-singer, the virtuoso khomusist playing a khomus (a mouth harp) Olena Podluzhnaya from Yakutia, the honored artist Emil Tolkochekov from the Republic of Altai, the singer and composer Alex Kolchin from Moscow, as well as local soloists and collectives performed on the same stage with the ensemble.

The first director of “Seetey Yamal” Nelly Lebedeva, who had educated several generations of soloists and cultivated love to art, came to the jubilee.

As it should be noted, during half a century the collective went around the entire Russia and Europe and became the pride of Yamal. Their musical performances based on northern folklore and traditions with brilliant choreography under live music always take place with full audience.

Diana Ukolova is the head of the ensemble during 20 years. Within long time the ensemble managed to achieve high results, and in 2014 it was awarded with the honored title “governor’s”.

It will be possible to see the new performance of the governor’s ensemble of ethnic songs “Seetey Yamal” on the 19th of December. Local soloists and collectives will come on the stage of Cultural and Business Center of Salekhard in honor of the jubilee.
