The group for the expedition to Beliy Island is being formed in Tyumen

The first stage on formation of the Tyumen arctic group for participation in the ecological expedition to Beliy Island started in Tyumen, as it is informed on the website vesti.ru. By the words of a deputy governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Alexander Mazharov, this is one of directions of ecological strategy in Yamal.

The aim of the expedition is to clean the whole island from garbage. The territory of the island makes almost 2 thousand square kilometers. Heavy machinery from the time of the Second World War, abandoned constructions, where meteorologists had lived earlier, stayed on its territory. During a month any man at the age from 20 to 35 years old can leave a request on the website. The second stage will start later – voting. In parallel, candidates will pass tests on physical and psychological readiness for work in high latitudes. The expedition will take place from the 3rd to the 24th of August. During three weeks the participants plan to complete cleaning the territory of the Polar marine hydro-meteorological station and to start cleaning of the territory of the military unit.
