The gubernatorial electronic library will be presented in the Russian Geographical Society

On the 13th of November it is planned to conduct the presentation of the gubernatorial electronic library in the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow. By the information given in the press-service of the governor of Yamal, the place for the forthcoming presentation of the electronic resource was chosen not occasionally. History of interaction between Yamal and the Russian Geographical Society started more than 100 years ago.

Work on the editorial project is continued. Its presentation took place this June in Saint-Petersburg in the Presidential library named after Boris Yeltsin. The impressive quorum of cultural society, representatives of the power and business were gathered for the action. The presentation aroused big public interest. Continuation of work with employees of the Russian Geographical Society in Saint-Petersburg on selection of books and cartographic editions for digitalization and inclusion to the given electronic resource became the result of it.

As we should note, the government of Yamal pays big attention to the issue of preservation of historical, cultural and scientific legacy. It is confirmed with the initiative about creation of the special electronic resource, which includes more than 500 editions and contains fantastic amount of information about the Russian North in general and Yamal in particular. The rarest books on history, geography, ethnography and economy of the land became accessible owing to this full-scale project: to people of Russia, foreign scientists, students and schoolchildren, business people and just ones, who love the North.

As we should remind, the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society was made in 2010 in the town Nadym. This year the agreement about cooperation between the government of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Russian Geographical Society, the agreement about cooperation between the Museum-exhibition complex of Shemanovskiy and the Russian Geographical Society were signed within the third International arctic forum "The Arctic - Territory of Dialogue" in Salekhard.
