The icebreaker "Yamal" completed piloting of the caravan of ships for the Ministry of defense

The nuclear-powered icebreaker "Yamal" completed icebreaker piloting of the ships "Kapitan Danilkin" and "Yuriy Arshenevsky" to Kotelny Island, as the press-service of Rosatomflot informs.

For the first time this year the ships delivered cargoes for building of arctic infrastructure of the Northern Fleet to the archipelago the New Siberian Islands with support of the icebreaker "Yamal". The caravan of the ships overcame 1080 miles. The average speed made 5 knots. On the 26th of April from Cape Zhelaniya the icebreaker "Yamal" provided support of the ships "Kapitan Danilkin" and "Yuriy Arshenevsky". Move of the caravan from the west to the east took place in usual mode. Ice conditions in the Kara Sea are evaluated as average. Icebreaker piloting took as much time as it needs for piloting of two ships in such ice conditions, as a representative of Atomflot Vladimir Arutyunyan informs. After completion of piloting of the ships the nuclear-powered icebreaker "Yamal" continued work within the scientific and research expedition "Kara-Winter 2015". Return of the icebreaker to the port of Murmansk is planned for the middle of June, as it is informed on the portal korabli.eu.
