The icebreakers "Yamal" and "Vaygach" are rendering icebreaker support to ships that go to Sabetta and Mys Kamenniy

Since the beginning of the year the nuclear-powered icebreakers "Yamal" and "Vaygach" started rendering icebreaker support to ships that go to ports of Sabetta and Mys Kamenniy.

According to the words of the deputy director general on exploitation of the fleet of the enterprise "Atomflot" Andrey Smirnov, the icebreakers "Tor" and "Moskva" also are being used in the port of Sabetta. The nuclear-powered icebreaker "Yamal" is working on the sea area up to the northern edge of the sea deepwater channel on the Ob River. The icebreaker is piloting ships there, where the icebreaker "Vaygach" is taking them under its support. As it is informed on the website atom.belta.by, in January it is planned to render support of 5 tankers towards Mys Kamenniy. Three were fulfilled. Because of severe ice conditions in the district of the Kara Gates the ships go from the Gulf of Ob to Zhelaniya Cape. This route allows providing safety and keeping commercial speed of traffic of tankers. In March the nuclear container carrier "Sevmorput" and the icebreaker "50 Let Pobedy" will come to arctic routes.
