The international exhibition-fair "Treasures of the North – 2014" in Moscow

The 9th international exhibition-fair "Treasures of the North – 2014" is taking place in Moscow on the territory of the All-Russian exhibition center. It will last till the 27th of April. The cultural program includes performances of soloists and collectives of the 9th All-Russian festival of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East "Nomads of the North": ethnic dances under rhythms of national musical instruments, northern songs, fashion show of northern traditional and modern clothes, national sports competitions and the round dance of friendship.

The themes of the action cover all spheres of life activity, everyday life, traditional crafts and trades, unique and original cultures of northern peoples. The business program includes conferences, presentations, creative meetings, round tables and contests of creative works. The delegation of Yamal was formed with consideration of requests from municipalities. It includes young craftspeople of decorative and applied art, pupils of the creative association from Tazovskiy district, young craftspeople on bone-carving, craftspeople on sewing of traditional national clothes, soloists and creative collectives, representatives of communities of ethnic minorities of the North. This information was given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" in the department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Traditions of indigenous peoples are presented on the stand of Yamal. Within master-classes connoisseurs of traditional crafts will give an opportunity to guests to make souvenirs. Soloists and collectives will demonstrate the parade of national and modern clothes with ethnic elements. Inhabitants and guests of Moscow will be able to get acquainted to everyday life of indigenous peoples of Yamal, to see a Nenets choum with interior decoration. (The note: a choum is a home of nomads, reindeer herders; it is similar to a tepee). The organizers of the exhibition are: the company "Aborigen Expo Tour", the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, the international foundation "Batani", the Union of Communities of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, the National Guild of Producers and Importers.
