The landing ship "Yamal" performs service in the Mediterranean Sea

The staff of the standing military force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea was replenished with three combat ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

This information was given to RIA "Novosti" by the chief of the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, Captain Vyacheslav Trukhachev. Three combat ships of the Black Sea Fleet were included to the operational military force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea – the guard-ship "Ladny" and the landing ships "Saratov" and "Yamal", as he declares. Vyacheslav Trukhachev adds that about 10 combat ships and supply vessels now perform service within the operational military force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea. Russia started forming the Mediterranean squadron, having sent a group of ships of the Pacific Fleet to this region in March of 2013. Now ships and vessels of the Pacific, Northern, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets are used in the Mediterranean group on the basis of rotation.
