The law about the Arctic zone will define measures to support regions

Within the state program on development of the Arctic zone for 2015-2020 it is supposed actively to attract business, including private companies, to development of the continental shelf and arctic infrastructure.

It was noted by Igor Chernyshenko, a member of the committee of the Federation Council on federative structure, regional policy, local self-governance and northern affairs. Speaking about priority measures in the sphere of development of the Russian Arctic, the legislator focused attention on the necessity to adopt the law about the Arctic zone, which would include measures on socioeconomic support of regions of the Arctic zone. Besides, the senator spoke for creation of the authorized body, which would supervise the region. By his words, more likely, it will be not a state corporation but a federal agency. There are variants of transferring functions on management of the Arctic to one of acting ministries and departments, for example, the Ministry of the Russian Federation on development of the Far East, as Igor Chernyshenko adds. As we should remind, the government approved the state program "Socioeconomic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation till 2020". The state program includes activities of branch state programs of the Russian Federation being fulfilled in the Arctic zone. Coordination of activity of bodies of the state power at fulfillment of state policy in the Arctic zone of Russia is laid on the Ministry for regional development of the Russian Federation by the governmental decree.
