The legendary Yamburgskoye field is celebrating its 50th anniversary

The history of the legendary Yamburgskoye field dates back to April 19, 1969. Fifty years ago a 53-meter drilling rig was delivered to the drilling site of Yamburg. It was transported on 230 kilometers from Tazovskiy area in the assembled condition.

Most of the way was passed on the still strong ice of the Taz River and the Taz Estuary. Despite the off-road, the breakdown of tractors, the derrick was delivered to the place in just five days, as the service on public relations and communication with mass media of “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” informs. In July assemblage was completed, and on August 13, 1969 the team of the drilling master Vladimir Romanov reached the design depth. During the test the well produced a strong flow of gas. Absolutely free production rate exceeded 2 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The team fulfilled successful delineation of the field, and it was enough to legalize it. However, people did not believe at once to the preliminary calculations of the explorers: the geologists did not expect the reserves so astonishing in amounts.

“Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” has been developing Yamburgskoye oil, gas, condensate field for 35 years. 14 complex gas treatment plants and preliminary gas processing terminals were input to operation on its territory. Booster compressor stations operate in 9 deposits. The accumulated extraction of gas exceeded 4 trillion cubic meters.

The memorial sign dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Yamburgskoye field and the 35th anniversary of “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” was installed this March at the drilling site of the first exploration well.
