The Ministry for transport and Rosneft will provide safe transportation of hydrocarbons in the Arctic

The minister for transport of the Russian Federation Maksim Sokolov and the president of "Rosneft" Igor Sechin signed the agreement about cooperation in the Arctic.

The sides agreed to interact in search and rescue of people in distress and liquidation of probable emergency situations, including spills of oil and petroleum products in the territorial sea and on the continental shelf of Russia in the Arctic. The document was elaborated to provide conditions necessary for safe exploration and production in oil and gas fields in the territorial sea and on the continental shelf of Russia in the Arctic and careful extraction of mineral resources. It is planned to cooperate in coordination of programs connected with providing of safety of territories and population at searching, prospecting, extracting, transporting and processing of hydrocarbons and accompanying loading-downloading activity in the Russian part of the Arctic. Forming of necessary transport infrastructure for safe transportation of hydrocarbons and minimizing of risks of emergency situations are the directions of cooperation.
