The Museum and Exhibition Complex of Shemanovskiy dedicated the exhibition to the legendary parades

The exhibition “From the first parade to the victory one” telling about the military parades of 1941 and 1945 was opened in the main museum of Yamal. (https://mvk.yanao.ru/news/detail.php?ID=2918)

According to the director of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of Shemanovskiy, candidate of historical sciences Tatiana Koptseva, the exhibition project is dedicated to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, workers of the home front and children of the war. Russian people always treat their heroic deeds, courage, heroism and boundless love for the Motherland with respect and admiration.

“We have the rich historical past. Therefore, we must stay keepers of the memory: we have something to be proud of, something to think on and something to remember”, she said.

The subject matter of the exhibition consists of materials from the Central Armed Forces Museum of the Russian Federation from Moscow, Victory Museum from Moscow, the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps from Saint Petersburg.

On the 7th of November of 1941 the military parade was held not only on the Red Square in Moscow, but also in Kuibyshev and Voronezh. It was decided to hold the parade in Kuibyshev because of the difficult situation near Moscow. At that time the entire government was transferred to that Volga city. According to Alexander Volf, a researcher in the section of new and modern history of the regional Museum, the parade was held in front of foreign journalists and representatives of diplomatic missions. Military attaches of Turkey and Japan, who were present at the event, reported to the leadership of their countries about the great power of the USSR. After that, neither Japan nor Turkey entered the war against the USSR. Alexander Volf underlines that the troops participating in the parades in Moscow, Voronezh and Kuibyshev were sent immediately to the battlefront.

8900 people left Yamal for the war. The residents of Yamal participated in all the battles: they defended Sevastopol, fought near Moscow and Leningrad. The most important and honorable award for a soldier - the Medal “For Courage” was given to 1033 residents of Yamal. In addition, the northerners stormed Konigsberg and liberated Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Poland.

According to the head of the section of new and modern history of the Museum Aleksey Mazurin, a resident of Yamal Vasily Davydov received the Medal “Gold Star to the Hero of the Soviet Union”. He is known as the person, who led the intelligence group that hoisted one of the Victory banners over the Reichstag. Another countryman Mikhail Ryabkov, as a radio operator was the first to report that the banner was flying over the Reichstag.

The Victory Parade of the Red Army troops took place on the Red Square in Moscow on the 24th of June of 1945 and lasted for 122 minutes. For the historical ceremony it was necessary during a month to work out the ceremonial step, to make dozens of flags and to sew thousands of sets of uniforms. Throwing of the captured German banners to the foot of the Mausoleum was the central event.

At the exhibition visitors will be able to see rare archival video materials from the war, photos of the parades on the 7th of November of 1941 in Moscow, Kuibyshev and Voronezh, military uniforms, awards and medals, as well as machinery that participated in the parades in 1941 and 1945. In addition, the exhibition is presenting models of “hedgehog” anti-tank obstacles and gas holders.
