The Northern Latitudinal Railway and Bovanenkovo-Sabetta are necessary for development of extractive fields in the Arctic
An Arctic segment of Yamal and the north of Krasnoyarsk Krai play a strategic role in development of the mineral and raw material complex of Russia. The talk about it was on the plenary session on instruments of development of transport infrastructure and fulfillment of large projects.
The deputy director general on fulfillment of promising projects of the production firm “VIS” Alexander Kim underlined significance of creation of the transport corridors the Northern Latitudinal Railway and Bovanenkovo-Sabetta for development of extractive fields in the Arctic. Development of transport infrastructure of the Yamal peninsula is one of basic priorities in economic policy of the government of Yamal and coincides with aims and tasks of the working group “Development of transport system” of the State Commission on Arctic Development. In the end of last year Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the company “VIS TransStroy” signed the agreement about creation and exploitation of the new railroad line of non-public use Bovanenkovo-Sabetta under conditions of governmental-private partnership. According to the words of Alexander Kim, delivery of general cargoes for development, hydrocarbon raw materials and products of oil and gas chemistry to consumers both on the Northern Railway and on the new arctic corridor Obskaya – the port of Sabetta, including the Northern Sea Route, will become the main purpose of the new railroad lines of the Northern Latitudinal Railway and Bovanenkovo-Sabetta. The representative of the company underlines that the system of supporting ports is an important element of transport infrastructure of the Arctic zone of Russia. Different ideas of creation of transport corridors with ports in different regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, including Yamal, appear. The port of Sabetta is being constructed in Yamal. Fulfillment of projects “Yamal LNG” and development of Novoportovskoye field were started. By 2020 it is planned to transport 22 million and 500 thousand tons of liquefied gas and oil from the Gulf of Ob. By 2025 it is planned to increase cargo streams on 16 million and 500 thousand tons more in connection with building of “LNG-2”. In the conclusion Alexander Kim offered to bring in several suggestions to the resolution; they will assist to fulfillment of the program on creation of transport corridors of northern latitudes, as it is informed on the portal advis.ru.
