The northernmost gas turbine electric power plant in Russia was input to operation in the East-Messoyakhskoye field

The company “Messoyakhaneftegaz” input the gas turbine electric power plant with the capacity 84 megawatt to operation in the East-Messoyakhskoye oil gas condensate field in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This is the northernmost mainland gas turbine power plant in Russia, which will provide the field with electricity and heat.

The new power plant was built during two years, as the press center of the company informs. Delivery of building materials and equipment was fulfilled mainly on winter roads because of remoteness of the field from transport infrastructure. The plant weighing about 1500 tons was mounted on piles with the system of thermal stabilization in two meters above soil level in order to preserve permafrost grounds. The Messoyakha gas turbine power plant consists of 73 objects; six gas turbine units with a capacity of 14 megawatt each are the most important. The own gas treatment unit with the production capacity 450 thousand cubic meters per day was built on the plant. It cleans fuel from mechanical impurities, water and oil condensate. The gas turbine complex input to operation in the East-Messoyakhskoye field will provide electricity for objects of oil production, infrastructure of the field and, due to use of associated petroleum gas as raw material, also will allow avoiding inefficient use of resources. The integrated approach to development of the field fully corresponds to the company’s vision of efficient, safe and environmentally friendly production, as the director general of “Messoyakhaneftegaz” Aydar Sarvarov says. The Messoyakha group of fields includes the East-Messoyakhskoye and the West-Messoyakhskoye fields. Licenses for them belong to the joint-stock company “Messoyakhaneftegaz”, which is controlled by “Gazprom Neft” and Rosneft on the parity basis. The fields were discovered in the eighties of the last century. They are the northernmost of famous Russian oil-fields located onshore. The Messoyakha group is located on the Gydan Peninsula, in Tazovskiy district of Yamal in the arctic climatic zone.
