On the 11th of November in Salekhard the participants of the international symposium “Preventing the dissemination of infectious animal diseases on climate change” discussed the project of the resolution. It consists of 5 units, including up to 10 items: from measures of diagnostics of raw materials, including velvet antlers of reindeer, and methods of sanitary examination up to vaccine prevention. The final variant of the resolution is on the stage of completion.

The deputy director of Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, a corresponding member of the RAS, doctor of biological sciences Mikhail Flint explains that the adopted document is divided into units, one of them is general that depicts state of the problem of infectious diseases dissemination and also directions, in which it needs to move for solving the problem. The project of the resolution outlines the necessity of attracting of academic science to solving of some tasks, which will be defined by the local authorities and practicing veterinary medicine, as Mikhail Flint says. Also the document underlines the necessity of international cooperation, without which it is impossible to understand processes taking place in the Arctic. Discussion of the problem in the context of how it appears in different arctic countries gives much for understanding the issue, from where an infection can come, as he notes. The scientist focuses attention to so that the general part of the resolution marks the necessity to use many-century traditional knowledge. Their recommendations often do not coincide and even are counter to recommendations given by practicing science, and it needs to understand, why it happens. This part of the document declares finding of mutual understanding between these points of view. Other units of the resolution are detailed enough. Some items are dedicated, for example, to so, how to evaluate potential capacity of pastures for reindeer husbandry, how to build interaction with reindeer herders for creation of the non-dangerous background on the basis of vaccination. It scrutinizes the issue, if it needs to influence on reindeer herders in their choice of routes. A part of the units touches on veterinary topics, for example, elaboration of regulations of vaccination. As Mikhail Flint notes, it is impossible to write everything within the press-conference. He sees such detailed resolution for the first time. The organizers took care of availability of the ready basis, they outlined it in details. All the participants were asked for texts of their reports, and the authors of the resolution were ready to correct it a little and to present for discussion. It made the document very constructive. Issues, which should be perfected at home, were outlined; the participants should send them during the coming days to form the final resolution. This final work of the symposium once more underlines exemplary organizing from the point of view of choice of the invited people, the structure of setting tasks and the final part of the conference being represented with this resolution, as Mikhail Flint says.
