The president instructed to start building of the railroad line in Yamal as soon as possible

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government and the company "The Corporation of development" to start building of the railroad line Obskaya – Salekhard – Nadym – Pangody – Noviy Urengoy – Korotchayevo as soon as possible.

The length of the so-called Northern Latitudinal Route makes 707 kilometers. This is the only variant of the alternative railroad communication, without which development of the Arctic is impossible. The Northern Latitudinal Route is able to unburden the Trans-Siberian Railway considerably. Also it will optimize transportations on the Sverdlovsk Railway and will provide development of Ob and Nadym interfluves area. As we should note, the second project – building of the railroad line Polunochnoye – Obskaya makes 850 kilometers. It will be laid along the eastern side of the Ural ridge and will be orientated on projects on raw materials import-substitution for enterprises of metallurgical industry owing to development of local extractive fields of mineral raw materials. The line will give the opportunity to increase cargo streams, adjust transport communication between the Polar Urals, Yugra and Yamal and the port of Sabetta, which is being built now. The project documentation on building of the line Polunochnoye – Obskaya has been developed. Now the corporation conducts negotiations with potential investors and creditors. By the information given in the press-service of "The Corporation of development", these independent projects are aimed, first of all, at forming of the unified basis for transport space of Russia. The railroad lines will connect territories of northern regions between each other and will become contribution to creation of the unified national road system.
