The president will be elected on the congress of the Association of indigenous peoples

The 8th congress of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation will take place on the 24th of March within the forum. The president of the Association Grigory Ledkov will present the report about the work during the latest 4 years. The new edition of the charter will be adopted, and the bodies of management for next 4 years will be elected.

In a conversation with a correspondent of the news agency “Sever-Press” Grigory Ledkov notes that congresses of indigenous peoples always were conducted brightly. There are many strong regions with authoritative leaders. The congress is a place, where everyone can express their opinion, to present candidates and to participate in discussions on this issue. The president of the association underlines that the order of conducting of the congress is a unified regulation for everyone, it stays the same. Working bodies are elected. The agenda is formed and worked completely. Then delegates suggest their candidates, conduct discussions and start the election process. There are standard procedures set by the law, and a representative of the Ministry for justice supervises their observation. Also Russian and international public organizations will observe the election by the invitation of the president of the association. As we should remind, on the previous congress in 2013 the election of the president of the association took place in three tours. In two first tours of voting none of the candidates received two thirds of votes, according to the charter. The name of the new president of the public organization Grigory Ledkov was announced only at midnight.
